Exercise for disabled persons in wheelchairs

Exercise adapted for the disabled in wheelchairs – these exercises take the disabled person’s needs to remain seated into account and mainly work on his upper body as a substitute for activating all the muscles of the body. Unlike in physiotherapy, the adapted sports therapy exercises do not require the person to be lowered to a supine position, nor require getting up and sitting back down in a chair. Rather, they instruct the gymnast to engage in substantial exercise all while seated in a chair.

Aerobic training to strengthen heart and lung activity as well as burn excess fat, as well as bone and muscle strengthening, is all accomplished by activating the upper body.

Sports adapted for children and young people with special needs

Sports adapted for children and young people with special needs – sports adapted for children and young people with special needs are focused on making physical activity a fun and challenging experience, whilst not necessarily being competitive.
The exercises in question constitute ordinary physical activities that are made accessible by the right encouragement and use of language tailored to the individual cognitive ability of the child or adolescent. They are also designed to inspire further motivation for sports as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Most people with special needs have difficulty performing a complex task, meaning that it must be broken down into its basic components whereby each section can be worked on separately before being connected into a logical sequence of motion repeated multiple times to optimize learning.

The success, of course, engenders further motivation. Furthermore, we aspire to involve the child with newfound or improved physical capabilities in social sport activities and to instill a sense of belonging and competency.

Fitness training for children, young people and adults

Fitness training for children, young people and adults – adapted training for children and young people who refrain from physical activity and sports due to a whole host of reasons ranging from Developmental Coordination Disorder or other sensory-motor regulation difficulties to being overweight or feeling like a failure having had past negative experiences. The training we provide turns daily tasks into welcome physical experiences that can be conducted almost anywhere and at any time, strengthening muscles and improving posture, preventing drooping shoulders and scoliosis.

Fitness training for the elderly – adapted training purposed to create a strong and stable base that helps prevent falls and fractures and strengthen muscles and bones. Our fitness programs seek to provide encouragement, instill success and offer positive incentives to continue activity. Due to limited joint movements and medical histories, breaking down physical tasks into more manageable components is sometimes necessary for optimum treatment

Exercise adapted for children and young people with cancer according to medical recommendations

Exercise techniques are adapted for children and young people with cancer according to medical recommendations, providing appropriate movement therapy methods that preserve motion capability and instill an objective appreciation of their own abilities. All such methods are, of course, pursued in line with treatment plans outlined by medical professionals in order not to cause excessive fatigue and pain.

Follow-up treatment at home for physiotherapy treatments

Follow-up treatment at home for physiotherapy treatments – it is often the case that those who have undergone a course of physiotherapy are required to continue practicing at home. However, they do not always succeed in keeping up the practice whether due to fatigue or for fear of falling or experiencing pain. Our treatment essentially continues the recommended practice at home, but under supervision and with tweaks if necessary.

Our activities

Activities performed recently

A long journey that began with rehabilitation-orientated studies and experiential work in rehabilitation centers in Israel and abroad brought me to recognize the need for continuous treatment of physical activity for disabled persons. Seeing patients discharged to their homes in locations far from sports or medical centers without further intensive treatment has shown to undo all the achievements gained during the rehabilitation process. In some cases, ulcers and sores caused by degeneration and immobility have even resulted in fatalities. Years of experience of working with children and young people with special needs have led me to appreciate sports therapy and adapted physical activity as a fun and uncompetitive way to achieve a high quality of living and gain a sense of competence and achievement. Continuous studies for the purpose of providing adequate treatment and services in the field of sports and in terms of accessibility that meet individuals’ unique needs through appropriate equipment and practices.

Today, as an employee within the system who is also active in the field of services for persons with special needs and disabilities, I see things holistically and understand the big picture.
